TAMPA, FL (May 21, 2020) - In an effort to support conservatives in the Tampa Bay area of Florida, a consortium of like minded media people have banded together to disseminate conservative related news and opinion. According to the founder, Tim Bryce of Palm Harbor, "There is no doubt the news media in our area has liberal inclinations. Consequently, it is next to impossible to post any news or OpEd pieces pertaining to conservative values. As such, we have started this coalition as a one-stop web site to support conservatives in the Bay area. From it, we expect synergism to emerge by forming a network of cooperation."

In addition to conservative related news, there is a calendar of events, along with direct connections to media contacts, such as podcasts from Willie Lawson, the conservative voice of Tampa Bay, and Dr. Rich Swier of Sarasota, who publishes a popular and respected e-Zine, with a stable of fine writers. Also, K.P. Leonard's "Senior Voice America" supports TBC representing a printed monthly newspaper aimed at Tampa Bay seniors. The Editor for the News section is Helena Nunn, long known in the area for her postings of conservative news links.

TBC also includes a research section to check information, a listing of conservative political clubs in the area, along with a section to register to vote in Florida. Political surveys are included and a series of Zoom Town Hall meetings are planned. A "Speakers Bureau" is also available listing conservative speakers available for talks. There is even a "Funny Pages" section to list conservative related humor.

What makes this unique is the site is tailored to the needs of a specific community and ideology. It is hoped this becomes a model for other metropolitan areas in the country. The TBC site is free to use and participation is voluntary. The site can be found at:

STUCK BETWEEN TWO IDEOLOGIES

BRYCE ON POLITICS

- Why we argue about politics.

I recently engaged in a discussion with two Democrat friends about the deep political divide separating America. It began when I chided them they didn't believe President Trump didn't act "presidential" enough for their tastes. It was my argument the country had suffered from people acting too "presidential," as opposed to moving the country forward, thereby leaving us with a political "swamp" in Washington, DC that stagnated the economy, trade, infrastructure and just about everything else. It was time to bring in a maverick who understood more about business and getting things done as opposed to being politically correct and bowing to the whims of the main stream media. This proposition obviously didn't change their perspective of the president.

I then contended the Democrats have turned too far to the left, and abandoned moderate Democrats in the process. I quoted the January 2019 Gallup poll which, for the first time,showed there were more liberals in the party. They reluctantly acknowledged this, but countered by saying the Republicans had turned too far to the right and, as such, we need more "compromise." The Gallup poll disputes this claim, but let's assume this is so.

The one thing we agreed on was that the country suffers from a divide among political ideologies, our system of beliefs and values, which are considered diametrically opposite. In a nutshell, I contend the "far right" believes in the 4-Cs, to wit:

CHRISTIANITY - a belief in Jesus and acceptance of all religious denominations. Such people are proud and unapologetic of their spiritual beliefs which they find comforting.

CAPITALISM - a belief that a person should be encouraged to excel; to assume risk and responsibility and, if successful, be compensated accordingly and, if a failure, learns and adapts (an evolutionary approach to business).

CONSTITUTION - a belief this is an important document guaranteeing freedoms, and an imaginative form of government featuring three separate but equal branches, and packaged as a republic, not a democracy.

CONSERVATIVE VALUES - consisting of such things as honoring our fore bearers and history, citizenship, love of country (patriotism), reverence for family, respect for life, equality, being a good neighbor, lending a helping hand, etc. And contrary to how Republicans are painted, it most certainly does not include racism.

This is what the "far right" adamantly believes and is willing to defend. My argument thereby becomes, "How do you compromise this?"

The antithesis of this ideology would be the 4-As:

ANTI-CHRISTIAN - In an April 2019 report, Gallop points out Democrats' membership in churches, synagogues, and mosques has reached a new low. From 1938 to 1999, membership averaged 70%, but since then it has steadily declined to its current level, dropping from 71% to 48%, a 23 point drop.

ANTI-CAPITALISM - the Democrats now openly embrace Socialism which requires expanded government control, the creation of government dependencies (aka, “Master/Slave” relationships), and a re-distribution of the wealth, whereby the wealthy are required to pay others who have not earned their way. By creating "entitlements," the Democrats are creating an environment whereby people are discouraged from trying harder, working harder, assuming risk, and assuming responsibility for their actions. To me, the spending spree suggested by the Democrats is nothing more than an attempt to buy votes.

ANTI-CONSTITUTION - The Democrats have made numerous attempts to undermine our governing document, as it is perceived as an antiquated encumbrance against the Democrat agenda. This is why they wish to eliminate the Electoral College, change the makeup and stature of the Supreme Court (making it subservient to the executive branch), implement gun control, and other changes to our Bill of Rights. It's all about control, not freedom. From this, one could realistically conclude the Democrats would prefer an autocratic form of government. Their insistence America is a democracy is an attempt to influence those without an education of our form of government.

ANTI-CONSERVATIVE VALUES - according to Gallop polls in 2017 and 2018, liberal positions have led to a sharp decline in morality in the country as we know it today. This is greatly assisted by the entertainment and news media who no longer feel restrained from promoting liberal values and demeaning those of conservatives. Instead, the Democrats have developed a set of moral values diametrically opposed to conservatives in an attempt to redefine history, government, freedoms and rights. Concepts such as love of country, citizenship, cherishing life, etc. are frowned upon as Democrats prefer dedication to the party instead.

My moderate Democrat friends simply refuse to accept this caricature of their party. Again, I contend the party has changed radically and this indeed represents the values and beliefs of the new extremist Democrats.

I do not believe older moderate Democrats see it this way. Some have expressed to me in no way do they support Socialism. They may not like President Trump, but they hate Socialism more, and here is where we see their party begin to fracture. I am betting the moderate Democrats will simply stay away from their voting precincts next year.

So, is there a deep divide among ideological lines in the United States? Definitely. The point is, which ideology do you defend?

As to my Democrat friends, they are still my friends, and I consider such discussions incredibly important, something we should do more of, not less.

A NEW AMERICAN CIVIL WAR

Make no mistake, the country is in the midst of powerful class struggle between the "haves" and "have nots," a struggle between capitalism and socialism, bordering on a bona fide Civil War. Actually, it began with the hotly contested 2000 presidential election and escalated with the election of our current president with a liberal agenda. The seeds were planted during the Clinton impeachment hearings where politicians voted along political lines. Since then, there is a no-holds-barred approach to politics in this country, and the viciousness of the rhetoric has become dangerously reckless.

Since 2000 when the Democrats accused the Republicans of stealing the election, the tactic has been to attack unmercifully, attack to discredit, and attack until you get your way, then, deny any wrongdoing, and blame others. If you pose the slightest threat to the party's political agenda, you are vilified as was the case recently with Rush Limbaugh. To discredit the outgoing president and assure there would not be a political legacy, they attacked and ridiculed George W. Bush to the point of riding him out of town on a rail (by his own party no less). In other words, liberal politics have taken on a "take no prisoners" approach, the likes of which we have not seen since the Watergate hearings.

There is little, if any, bipartisanship in the drafting of laws and running the government. The administration has basically thrown its weight into its liberal agenda, while trying to paint Republican lawmakers as impediments to change by questioning their patriotism. Now, more than ever, a line has been drawn in the sand between liberal and conservative principles, and there is no true initiative to seek common ground. After all, why should there be if you control both houses of Congress and the White House?

To paraphrase Lincoln, "Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure." The question now has become, is capitalism wrong and should it be replaced by socialism? I contend capitalism is correct and socialism sets a dangerous course of destruction for this country. The differences between the two ideologues are significant and incompatible, yet this is what now faces the country. Yes, we are very much involved with a titanic class struggle in this country. And Yes, aside from armed conflict, it has all of the earmarks of a Civil War.

In the years preceding the first American Civil War, Congress was embroiled in a similar clash of ideologues, this time is was bitterly divided over the spread of slavery into the Western states. The Missouri Compromise and subsequent Kansas-Nebraska Act of 1854, for example, pitted the North versus the South in who would control the Congress. The discourse between the two camps ultimately caused political parties to collapse and new ones to emerge, such as the Republican Party. The Democratic Party was split along sectional lines as a result of the conflict.

It occurs to me that today's political differences may also shake the current parties to their very foundations. They will either change or split. Whereas the Republican Party had been moving towards the middle since the departure of Ronald Reagan, it is now moving rapidly back to conservative principles. The Democrats with their liberal agenda has basically forsaken moderates. Both parties have to shore up their differences internally or face a new third party to emerge, a moderate party.

The Republicans have become complacent, and put on the defensive by some clever political maneuvering by the Democrats and, as such, have been politically reactive, not proactive. This needs to change and an organized approach must be devised to draw up battle plans and devise tactics. Some suggestions:

1. Take the Media to task, which is nothing more than the mouthpiece of the Liberal Party; put them on the defensive; this includes television, radio, newspapers, the Internet. I mean really put on a full court press. Condemn their editorials, refuse to support their advertisers, and discredit their integrity by debunking the illusion they are "unbiased." Do not allow them to vilify conservative leaders like they did to Dan Quayle, Sarah Palin, and Rush Limbaugh. Their brainwashing techniques must be broken.

2. Challenge the Liberal Party, anywhere and anytime. I do not know an issue where we need to be on the defensive; we must go on the offensive. However, to contrast Conservatives from Liberals, we must do it with dignity, and tact. Unlike our opposition, we believe in honest debate. We should never stoop to their level of name calling, venom and lying. We must be forthright in our arguments and do it with class.

3. Groom replacements to take over. Ronald Reagan was a great president and we now hear his name mentioned as the savior of the party. But let's be realistic, Reagan is dead and buried, let's move along, I'm sure he would want us to move forward and not look back. To this end, I suggest establishing a bona fide school to teach conservative doctrine, and hone skills in communications, management, administration, drafting legislation, and political tactics. In other words, instead of a disorganized approach for grooming the future leaders of our country, let's devise a structured approach which promotes good government based on sound management principles. The nation needs leaders, not reactionaries.

4. Develop a sound political strategy that provides for a strong war chest to fund political campaigns, devise Congressional target areas, and take back the Congress and the White House.

It is sad to think we are at war with our own countrymen, but the fact remains there are people who are bent on changing the basic way of life in this country, such as redistributing the wealth through expanded government. They have already fired the first shot, are well organized, and now in control. It is time for Conservatives to wake up and get its act together before the changes implemented by the Liberals become irreversible.

WHY THE LEFT HATES RUSH & COMPANY

When you hear the name "Rush Limbaugh" mentioned by liberals and the press, the adjectives "controversial", "polarizing", "bombastic", "inflammatory", and "shock-jock" are often mentioned. Actually, such descriptions are also used to characterize Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, and anyone who opposes liberal policies and positions. Although these on-air personalities are generally regarded as the "Dark Side" of politics by Democrats, they also enjoy great ratings on the air waves.

I contend the reason they are condemned by the left is not because of what they say, but how they say it. After all, conservative doctrine is well known and rather predictable. Yet, people tune in regularly to get their daily dosage of conservative viewpoints. The difference lies in their tactics; whereas the liberal media is more covert in their spin on politics and world events (at least they like to believe they are), Rush & Company are more overt and unafraid of a good argument, some would even call it an "in your face" form of broadcasting. They actually relish a good challenge and welcome the opportunity to spar with virtually anybody. Whereas liberals like to spin their agenda using repetitive subliminal messages through the media, conservatives have become more proactive and animated in their discourse, which leads to better ratings.

Liberals have been orchestrating attacks against conservatives for quite some time; yet, when someone like Rush & Company openly fights back, the opposition is appalled and cries foul. Since they will not publicly debate Rush & Company, for fear of losing, the liberals vilify them through innuendo and sniping. Such attacks doesn't discredit or deter them one bit; In fact, it emboldens them. Any time the liberals openly attack them, on the air or in print, their ratings actually go up, not down, and fills their coffers. In addition to confounding the liberals, it puts them in a no-win situation with Rush & Company; if they attack them, they invigorate their ratings; if they do not, they suffer guilt by silence. Rush & Company, of course, are cognizant of this and know they have nothing to lose.

The Democrats only have three options to thwart Rush & Company; first, they can continue their program of vilifying the opposition, which only makes them stronger; second, they can publicly debate them, whereby they run the risk of losing an argument, or; third, they can completely ice them out by not recognizing them in any manner or form. As Oscar Wilde correctly observed, "The only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about." Then again, Rush & Company has already developed legions of devoted followers. I'm betting they will simply continue with the first option.

I find it interesting that personalities such as Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews are not considered "controversial", "bombastic", etc. They can hardly be called newscasters as they openly spin liberal doctrine. Yet, they are not criticized by the press. Hmm...I guess what is good for the goose is not good for the gander. If you say you agree with Rush & Company, you are openly accused of being "as crazy as they are." Yet, the opposite isn't true.

One thing is for sure, Rush & Company is not going away any time soon and will continue to publicly gnaw away at liberal principles (and become rich in the process). I'm not so much convinced the left despises them as much as they are afraid of them. Regardless, whether you love them or hate them, it all makes for great political theater.
